Hidden layers. Archives and data management with OSA

I participated as an educator in Hidden Layers: Archives and Data Management, an interdisciplinary course developed in collaboration between the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME) and the Blinken OSA Archivum. Together with my co-tutor, Miklós Erhardt, I worked with MA students on exploring artistic approaches to archival research, focusing on the relationship between memory, documentation, and the construction of historical narratives.

The course examined archives not only as repositories of the past, but also as active spaces where knowledge is selected, organized, preserved, and interpreted. Through seminars, workshops, and individual mentoring, we encouraged students to critically engage with archival materials and to investigate how personal and collective histories can be reinterpreted through contemporary artistic practices.

My contribution focused on supporting students in developing research-based projects that connected archival sources with visual storytelling, photography, and artistic experimentation. The program aimed to expand students’ understanding of archives as living resources that can generate new perspectives on forgotten, hidden, or contested histories, while also raising questions about authorship, representation, and the ethics of working with documents and memories.
